About
Car Loan Deduction Checker is a free tool for one narrow question: whether a vehicle meets the final-assembly rule for the US car loan interest deduction created by the 2025 tax law, and roughly what that deduction is worth.
It exists because the rule hinges on where a car was assembled, which is not something most people know about their own vehicle, and the answer is often the opposite of what the badge suggests.
How it works
When you enter a VIN, the page sends it to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's public vehicle decoder and reads back the plant location and weight rating. Everything else runs in your browser. We have no server and keep no records of VINs.

Not tax advice
This site explains a rule and estimates numbers. It does not know your full tax situation. Confirm with the IRS instructions for Schedule 1-A or a tax professional before you file.
